Dubai, February 07, 2010 : The Information Technology Department at the American University in Dubai (AUD) is organizing and hosting on April 18th & 19th 2010 the Database Operations and Development Symposium - DODS2010, a forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to present their latest research results, ideas, developments and applications in all areas of database operations and development. It is an initiative to bring the database enthusiast in the region together. The Symposium will address, explore and exchange information on the state-of-the-art in database operations, their modeling and simulation, design and use, and their impact.

The two-day symposium will include numerous cutting-edge presentations broken up into various sessions focusing on innovations and applications of database operations and development. The areas of emphasis amongst others will be Database Design, Data Mining & Knowledge Discovery, Database Concurrency, Transaction Management and Recovery, Database security, Distributed Databases, Current research in Databases and applications, and Bioinformatics.
Participation is extended to academics, researchers, designers, professionals and interested parties in all database disciplines and specialties.
DODS2010 is sponsored by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), IBM, ORACLE, and SCHLUMBERGER and will include invited presentations by experts from academia, industry, and government as well as contributed paper presentations describing original work on the current state of research in database operations, development, systems, applications and related issues.
There will also be tutorial sessions, workshops, special sessions, demos, panel discussions, posters sessions, TelePresence seminars and panel discussions, and exhibits.
