Dated : December 04, 2006

AUD Students Celebrate the 35th UAE National DayUnder the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, the Khaleeji Club at the American University in Dubai hosted a celebration in commemoration of the UAE 35 th National Day.

The celebration commenced at 6 pm with the arrival of HH Sheikh Mansoor to the foyer of the Administrative Building where His Highness opened the photography exhibition dubbed "Emarati," in reference to the local identity of the UAE, and organized by AUD students. Mesmerizing photographs were displayed for the pleasure of the beholders. Each of these pictures depicted an exceptional slice-of-life facet of the culture of the country. Combined, they composed a historical account of the traditions of the UAE.

Accompanied by Mr. Elias Bou Saab , the Vice President of the AUD, and Dr. Jihad Nader , the Provost , His Highness strolled through the foyer, where the student photographers took turns in narrating to him the thoughts behind their captivating portraits of art.

His Highness was then guided to celebration site where the heritage village was set up. A huge crowd of AUD students, faculty and staff welcomed His Highness to the festivities that included poetry recital, local singing, and folkloric dancing. In the heritage village, scenes of the Emarati traditions were depicted through the "local souq," "local kitchen," "camel rides," "falcon show" and "traditional wedding". These scenes allowed the participants to experience the country's genuine identity.
