A collaborative project has been initiated between the Department of Interior Design at the American University in Dubai (AUD), Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, USA, Universidad de Monterrey in Mexico, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, and Universidad Rafael Landivar in Guatemala.

Led by Professor Chadi El Tabbah as part of the IDES292 Space Planning and Universal Design course, the objective of this collaborative project is to bring together teams with diverse cultural backgrounds and areas of study.

Regenerative design is at the core of this project, which aims to unite human well-being with environmental vitality. This approach emphasizes the creation of spaces, systems, and practices that support physical, mental, and cultural flourishing while simultaneously restoring and preserving the natural world. It goes beyond merely sustaining ecosystems, striving to rejuvenate and strengthen them. Recognizing that healthy environments are essential for human health and prosperity, regenerative design integrates the needs and aspirations of people with ecological integrity. It seeks to establish harmonious and resilient connections between individuals, communities, and their surrounding environment.

The teams have integrated cultural insights into a regenerative design proposals by blending various cultural perspectives and skill sets, and conceptualized solutions that harmonize with the environment, reflecting a holistic approach that surpasses traditional sustainability.
