AUD and Dubai Municipality Celebrate World Heritage Day

On April 25th, the American University in Dubai's Architecture department joined hands with Dubai Municipality in a commemoration of World Heritage Day, marking a significant milestone in our cultural endeavors. Among the distinguished attendees were Ebtihal Al Madani, Head of the Architectural Heritage Department at Dubai Municipality, Dr. Nabyl Chenaf, the Dean of the School of Architecture, Art, and Design, and Dr. Anna Cornaro, Chair of the Department of Architecture and Professor of Architecture.

The highlight of the event was the engaging Culture and Climate Seminar held at AUD, featuring esteemed guest lecturers Dr. Zaki Aslan, Director of the ICCROM’s Regional Conservation Centre in Sharjah (ICCROM - Sharjah); Dr. Eman Assi, Associate Professor at American University of Ras AlKhaimah - Urban Design; Dr. Abeer Abu-Raed, Assistant Professor at the American University of Ras AlKhaimah, Department of Architecture; and Architect Ahmed Al Ali, Co-Founder of X Architects. Their presentations delved into the intersection of climate change and architectural heritage, offering invaluable insights.

AUD students showcased their projects, embodying the UAE's rich heritage and cultural essence. A standout was the Al Fahidi district model, a testament to AUD students' resilience during the pandemic and their commitment to heritage preservation. The event concluded with an award ceremony honoring the guest speakers and the collaborative efforts of AUD and Dubai Municipality.
